What Is All-on-6?
All-on-6 places six implants to support a single, continuous fixed prosthesis (hybrid or zirconia). The six implants work together as a unified system to distribute biting forces across the entire arch.
When bone volume and quality allow, All-on-6 is one of the most predictable full-arch solutions available today. It offers excellent stability, good long-term data, and the ability to design highly natural-looking restorations.

In the classic 3 on 6 design, each bridge relies on only two implants. If one of those two implants develops a problem (loss of integration, fracture, or peri-implant issues), that entire section of the restoration can fail. The other two bridges remain, but the patient loses function and aesthetics in one segment and may need significant corrective treatment.
In a well-planned All-on-6, the six implants function as a single system. Forces are shared. If one implant ever needs attention, the remaining five still support the prosthesis. This redundancy is a meaningful advantage for long-term reliability.
About Bone Removal and “False Gums”
Many patients arrive with the belief that All-on-4 or All-on-6 always requires aggressive bone removal and thick artificial gums. This is a common oversimplification.
In reality:
- Modest bone contouring is performed only when it improves the final result or creates a stable platform after extractions.
- When a patient has good remaining bone, reduction can be minimal or avoided.
- The amount of pink porcelain (or acrylic) is determined by the patient’s anatomy and smile line — not by the number of implants.
- In suitable cases we can deliver porcelain or zirconia restorations with only minimal pink coloring limited to the interdental papilla area.
We place implants where the best quality and quantity of bone exists. We do not force implants into predetermined positions simply to fit a fixed prosthetic design. This biologically driven approach is generally more predictable than a strictly prosthetically driven protocol.
When Might 3 on 6 Be Considered?
A segmented three-bridge design can make sense in carefully selected cases with excellent, evenly distributed bone and ideal anatomy. However, for the majority of patients seeking full-arch rehabilitation — especially those with some degree of bone loss or complex bite forces — the continuous All-on-6 design offers better biomechanical safety and simpler long-term maintenance.
